What We Do
Land in Our Hands (LIOH) issued the following statement honoring this Peasants’ Day as follows:
- Restating the 22nd of December as the Peasants’ Day.
- Honoring the peasants who had given, and are giving their lives for resisting the oppressions and injustices.
- Committing to fight till the end of monopolizing/grabbing the land, destroying the customary lands, and making/exploiting the unjust laws or undermining the federal democratic system.
- Condemning junta’s attempt to stage coup, its illegitimate management on the peoples’ land resources and any collaboration with it.
- Denouncing the land grabbing, detaining or killing the peasants, and destroying (torching) the peoples’ homes & properties; and committing to join the peoples’ movements towards the federal land governance.

The Partners’ Activities on the Ground
A ceremony for marking the peasants’ day and local seeds conservation event was held by the indigenous communities from 4 villages of Lekasaw Township from Tanintharyi and around 200 indigenous peoples participated in this event.
